Outside the house

The grounds

Four flat, usable acres for children, dogs, and a group that wants to be outside. The view from the house is open lawn, then fields and a tree line. A full barn on the property can be used for activities. The land is private to your stay.

Fire pit

Gather around the fire pit under the stars. String lights frame the seating. Midweek stays include firewood. The yard is private to the house—an evening outside without leaving the property.

Gravel walkways

Defined paths are being laid so guests can move from the drive to the yard and seating areas without crossing wet lawn in every season.

Full barn

A full barn stands on the property and can be used for activities: a rainy-day gathering, a children’s project, or extra space when the house is full. It is part of the stay, not a locked outbuilding.

Planting

The four acres are the other half of the stay.

A wood deck looks over the field. The land is open and level, which is why families and pet owners book it: children can play in sight of the house, and dogs have acres rather than a courtyard. The full barn can be used for activities. Water comes from a private well with a softener; the septic system is new.

This setting suits holiday gatherings, family reunions, and summer evenings that do not need a restaurant patio. You remain minutes from downtown Rockford.
